Virginia Legislature Passes Marijuana Sales Bill, Sending Proposal To Governor’s Desk

If signed, the legislation would establish a regulatory framework for the legal sale and possession of marijuana for adults in the State of Virginia. The bill includes provisions for licensing, taxation, and social equity measures to address the disproportionate impact of past drug policies on marginalized communities.

US marijuana business licensing declined for the first time in 2023

FROM MJBIZDAILY - The number of new cannabis business licenses issued in the United States declined for the first time in 2023, according to data from the Marijuana Business Factbook. The report indicates that the drop in new licenses is likely due to market saturation in some states, as well as regulatory and licensing challenges in others. Despite the overall decline, certain states such as Illinois and Massachusetts saw an increase in new licenses issued.

Research Reveals Cannabis Use Linked to Surging Asthma Rates in High School Students

FROM SCI-TECH DAILY - The study, published in the Journal of Pediatrics, analyzed data from over 14,000 high school students in the United States. It found that students who reported using cannabis in the past year were more likely to have asthma and to have experienced an asthma attack compared to non-users.
